Hot weather and a cranky toddler post-park date is not a pleasant combo, so keeping something in the freezer or fridge that's not only nutritious but refreshing like these strawberry banana chia popsicles is KEY. When my youngest started getting jealous of her older brother’s popsicles, I knew I had to make something baby-safe that still felt special. These strawberry banana chia popsicles have become our go-to freezer snack that are hydrating, fiber-filled, and naturally sweet with zero added sugar.

Why Your Toddler Will Love These Strawberry Banana Chia Popsicles
- naturally sweet from banana + strawberries with no added sugar
- creamy texture from full-fat coconut milk

Ingredients
Here's what you will need to make these easy strawberry banana chia popsicles or pouches:
- ripe banana – naturally sweet and adds creaminess
- fresh or frozen strawberries – bright, fruity flavor toddlers love
- full-fat canned coconut milk – makes the popsicles rich and smooth while adding healthy fats
- chia seeds – help thicken the mixture slightly and add fiber, iron, and omega-3s
- vanilla extract (optional) – adds a cozy, familiar flavor
See recipe card for quantities.
Instructions
- Step 1: Add the banana, strawberries, coconut milk, chia seeds, and vanilla (if using) to a blender. Blend until smooth.
- Step 2: Pour into popsicle molds and freeze for 4–6 hours or until fully set. Or pour into pouches if doing smoothie pouches!
- Step 3: Run molds under warm water to help release. Serve and enjoy!
- Step 4: Share with your little ones and enjoy!
Hint
If your popsicle mixture feels too thick to pour smoothly into the molds, just stir in a splash of coconut milk or water after blending. A slightly thinner consistency makes it easier to fill molds cleanly — especially if you're using mini or narrow popsicle trays.
Substitutions
These are naturally gluten-free, dairy-free, and egg-free! Feel free to make swaps where you need to.
- banana → use ½ cup unsweetened applesauce or ripe mango
- coconut milk → try whole milk, oat milk, or Greek yogurt (if dairy isn’t an issue)
- chia seeds → skip them altogether or sub with a small amount of flaxseed meal
- vanilla extract → omit, sub, or add cinnamon or a pinch of cardamom for flavor
Variations
These strawberry banana chia popsicles can totally be customized with whatever fruit you have on hand!
- try different fruit: swap strawberries for raspberries, blueberries, or pineapple
- boost it: add hemp seeds, Greek yogurt (if not dairy-free), or a handful of spinach
- make smoothie pops: freeze in reusable silicone tubes or small paper cups with sticks
- tropical twist: use mango or pineapple with a splash of lime juice

How To Serve
- pop & go: hand one straight from the mold for a refreshing snack on a hot day, perfect for outdoor playtime or stroller snacks (yes they'll be a bit messy)
- on a snack plate: serve alongside fruit slices, yogurt, or a muffin for a fun little snack board that feels like a treat
- baby tastes: let the popsicle melt slightly and offer it in a suction bowl with a preloaded spoon to encourage independent exploration
Equipment
You will need a high speed blender and popsicles molds or silicone pouches to make these strawberry banana chia popsicles!
Storing Your Strawberry Banana Chia Popsicles
Store popsicles in molds or transfer to an airtight container after set. Best within 2–3 weeks for flavor + texture. If icy on the outside, run briefly under warm water to soften.
Tiff's Tip
Get your toddlers involved in the kitchen and help you make these! You can even offer choices of strawberry OR banana (or even to blend up some spinach in them too).
