Ingredients
I love making these popsicles because I almost always have bananas, avocados, and peanut butter on hand. It’s one of those recipes I can throw together without a grocery trip! Just mix by hand or blend, freeze, and I know I’ve got a nourishing snack ready to go mid-morning or in the afternoon.
- bananas – naturally sweet and loaded with potassium
- avocado – creamy texture, healthy fats, and fiber
- peanut butter – protein + staying power (can swap if needed)
See recipe card for quantities.
How To Make Your Banana Avocado Popsicles
- Step 1: Mix by hand or blend bananas, avocado, and peanut butter until smooth. Add in cocoa powder, yogurt, and vanilla extract (optional to add in maple syrup) for fudgesicles!
- Step 2: Pour into popsicle molds.
- Step 3: Freeze smoothie pops 3–4 hours until firm. I used the Haakaa freeze and feed for my 8 month old!
- Step 4: Remove popsicles from molds and enjoy!
Hint
Make sure to use very ripe bananas with brown spots if you can! The riper they are, the sweeter the popsicles will taste (without needing added sugar).
Substitutions
These banana avocado popsicles are naturally gluten-free and dairy-free, here are other substitutions you can do!
- banana-free → swap with ripe mango, pear, or applesauce for natural sweetness
- no avocado? → replace with full-fat coconut milk or Greek yogurt for a creamy texture
- nut-free → use sunflower seed butter or tahini instead of peanut butter
- dairy-free → recipe is naturally dairy-free, but you can add coconut milk for extra creaminess
Variations
You can totally change up the flavor in these smoothie popsicles by doing different mix-ins, swapping the peanut butter, or even subbing out the banana!
- nut-free - use sunflower seed butter instead of peanut butter
- extra creamy - blend in about ¼ cup of full-fat coconut milk
- avocado yogurt - omit the banana and mix avocado + yogurt + vanilla extract together
- chocolate fudgesicles - add 1 teaspoon cocoa powder + dash of vanilla extract for “PB fudgesicles” (can even add a dollop of maple syrup for added sweetness + yogurt for creaminess)
- simple baby version - skip the peanut butter if not introduced yet, or use avocado + banana only

How To Serve These Banana Avocado Popsicles To Your Little Ones
- for babies use these as a nutrient-dense "teether" snack situation or even part of a meal
- for toddlers you can totally dip half in melted yogurt + crushed granola for a fun “popsicle parfait" or ice cream pop!
These are our go-to for our stroller walks, especially in the summer when it is blazing hot outside.
Equipment
You'll need a blender (or just bowl + fork or masher for ease) and a popsicle mold to make these smoothie pops. I love the Haakaa freeze & feed for babies and then whatever silicone popsicle mold for toddlers!
Storing Your Banana Avocado Popsicles
Store in popsicle molds or freezer bags for up to 2 months. Run the mold under warm water for a few seconds to release popsicles easily.
Tiff's Dietitian Tip
Avocados are packed with monounsaturated fats, the same heart-healthy fats found in olive oil! For toddlers (and babies), these fats are especially important because they help support brain development, vitamin absorption, and keep little bellies full longer. Pairing avocado with banana and peanut butter in these popsicles gives a creamy texture and a balance of nutrients that picky eaters often miss at snack time.
FAQ
Yes! Babies can enjoy these popsicles once they’ve started solids (usually around 6 months), but skip the peanut butter if not yet introduced.
They’ll stay fresh for about 2 months, if your toddler doesn’t eat them all first!
Try almond butter, cashew butter, or sunflower seed butter for a nut-free option!
